Partners

The PRIDE project is based on a close collaboration of notable Universities from Italy, Greece and Spain. Integrated skills and knowledge were essential for the construction of a system located on a web platform which can support the coordination of law enforcement operators in fighting drug trafficking.

The Main Applicant is Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) in Italy, Section of Forensic Medicine, Department of Public Health.

The other partners are:

Sapienza University of Roma (URoma) in Italy, Department of Computer, Control, and Management Engineering Antonio Ruberti (DIAG);
University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) in Spain, Institute of Legal Medicine and Department of Analytical Chemistry;
University of Ioannina (UI), Greece, Department of Computer Science & Engineering (DCSE).

The Department of Computer, Control, and Management Engineering (DIAG) is a center for research and education in computer, system and management sciences with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary research and with a specific attention to technology transfer.

The DIAG is the leading partner of the  design and implementation of a fully working prototype of the system. The staff of DIAG involved in the project includes: Umberto Nanni, full professor with a strong background in Information Systems and Data Mining; Fabrizio D’Amore, associate professor whose area of expertise is the design of algorithms and computer security; Luigi Laura, postdoc, whose research area includes algorithms for massive data sets and graph algorithms.

The staff of the DCSE includes Loukas Georgiadis, assistant professor, who is a well-known expert in graph algorithms.

The choice of USC was determined by the long research experience, jointly with the Main Applicant University, in the field of chemical forensic investigation on seized drugs. This partner is also internationally recognized, as well as the Applicant, for its scientific expertise and for the skills of its researchers in the field of the project. Furthermore, between the Main Applicant and the USC, Institute of Legal Medicine and Department of Analytical Chemistry, there was an active and well functioning partnership for a previous ISEC project (JUST/2011/ISEC/DRUGS/AG/3670 _ TDT), which gave interesting results also for the implementation of the PRIDE project.
